Dear Diary,
It has been 5 years that I have been elected for president of United States and the everyday the nations problem is increasing. At this point our economic status has hit the floor, because of this our nations has led to Depression. However, several months ago I have heard about the Marco Polo Bridge, an event where Japan had invaded China, which was negligent news to the United States. Due to our nations complication I thought not interfering with another war between the East Asian countries was a good idea however, maybe it was a mistake. Maybe If I had helped these East Asian countries our nation would be better. I feel like a useless President, I am not even capable of feeding my own nation and if this continues more people are going to escape from this country. So, I should make up a plan, a plan where it would be a hope to the East Asian countries. Anyways, the last time I check Japan and China, the tension was extremely serious. Japan was really pensive, planning to conquer the China by having spy governments in order to take our secret information, killing allies with China, and also killing Chinese civilians. My sympathy goes to China. I am a thoughtful person, and I know Japan is wrong. Japan is only increasing power, and I am furious about the things they have did. While Japan is growing power ,I thought it could be a problem for us too. Personally, I wanted to take action in prevent Japan in earning so much power by doing something to their economic status. If Japan continues to conquer China, which they will, Japan will need a whole lot of money. So, even though we do something, Japan’s economic status will decrease dramatically and they will be in pain. My emotions to China is unable to be hidden, I needed to express my thoughts and feeling. My emotions for this happening, for this crisis is unbearable, because I am a human being who contains loving and caring feeling I wasn’t able to stay still.
Diary #2 December 8, 1941
Dear diary,
It has been a while that I have written my diary and have a lot of new information to share. First, yesterday was a catastrophic day, due to more complications Japan officially became a threat to the United States. Yesterday Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, our island, the island of United States. In addition they also attacked the Philippines, Wake Island, Guam, Malaya, Thailand, Shanghai and Midway. This has finally made it official that Japan is a threat to the United States. This is just unacceptable because due to this incident we lost numerous brave soldiers, and most of our military devices. Japan messes with the wrong nation, maybe Japan is unconscious that we are actually the strongest nation and we are strong. Due to this attack, me and the leaders of United States gathered, to make a decision about this great event. After several hours, we decided to officially declare war on Japan with the great help of Britain. I shouldn’t be so excited I should be devastated because I am extremely worried about our nations and mostly my own family. I know due to this war we will lose thousands of brave men, no place in the United States will be safe, and thousands of our civilians will get killed. However, I am confident that the United States will come back to victory and those brave men and civilians who got killed will be respected. I am tremendously worried for my family, I would never want to lose my beautiful wife, Eleanor Roosevelt and all my lovely caring kids. However, Japan had made it official and if we don’t start making assumptions we don’t know what Japan will do again. I, myself will make the Japanese people to stop, and make them think we are the strongest and terrifying nation on Earth. I will solve this problem before my death, which I think it coming soon.
Diary #3 January 10, 1944
Dear diary,
“For every advance that the Japanese have made since they started their frenzied career of conquest, they have had to pay a very heavy toll in warships, in transports, in planes, and in men. They are feeling the effects of those losses.”
— Franklin D. Roosevelt, 28 April 1942
I suddenly remember a sentence I said in the early 1942, when the tension between Japan was still tight. For the last two years many events have happened, we lost many but it was worth it. However, the lost of the Philippines was disaster to the United States because knew we lost a great nation would could have helped us gain our victory in this war. Anyways just yesterday, the British and Indian troops recaptured Maungdaw in Burma, which is good news. However, my feelings for the soldiers who are fighting out there is extremely painful. I know it’s crazy but the United States have been invading Bougainville in the Solomon Islands, Makin and Tarawa in the Gilbert Islands, and Vella Gulf in the Solomon Islands. All of these in short amount of time, I feel I’m pushing these soldiers too much. But I can’t resist because Japan keeps on attacking back, I would really like to research about the Japanese people because I just cannot understand them. Also wars that happen in Asian countries are tough for the soldiers of United States due to the strength of Japan. Starting this year, my hopes were high in winning this war, my confidence stroke the sky. However, now I’m starting to lose my confidence in war, my people, including my one and only family. Talking about my family, last year my beautiful wife, Eleanor Roosevelt decided to go to the South Pacific to check out the events. Well, due this trip my wife became a legend. Her trip in visiting thousands of wounded soldiers and caring them had people think differently about my wife. Later, A service man thanked my wife’s service and warmth that he repaid her by taking of all her cost when she visited. Lastly, my wife also was a crazy story teller that the soldiers praised her a lot. I always love my wife for staying with my and helping me whenever I am lonely.
Diary #4
April 11, 1945
Dear diary,
It has been 8 years that the United States have been fighting with Japan, and I think this war will never end. Every single day I am praying this war to end quickly and with victory. Recently, our reports have been sterling. Our plans to attack the Japan have been done without mistakes and the Naval Battle at Tulagi and Guadalcanel in the Solomon Islands was a great success. Each time we win a battle I feel like were racing in to a finish line. However, our economic problems keep on following us, even in the war. Due to the war, our economic status has been unknown because of domination. We need to fix these problems for the future or else once the war ends our countries will be poor. Recently, United States vice president has changed. The former vice president, Henry A. Wallace has been changed into Harry S. Truman. Truman is a good man, I feel that I can believe this man. He is hard working, caring, and extremely respectful. While this war has been going on for several years I have learned many things. Do not judge someone by their size. Japan is an extremely small and isolated country, because of this I always thought Japan was a weak country. However, I saw and experienced different. Japan is not a weak country but a strong and extremely smart country. I hope this war is coming to an end because I feel exhausted fighting this war every single day for 8 long and extreme years. I notice family members keeping exhausted and tired of this long war, breaking down because of their loss with family members, and scared that something else will happen. My only job right now is try my best to calm all my people, and tonight I rest in peace.
